It’s burger time! I had heard good things about The Rockit Bar & Grill a couple of years ago when I was in Chicago for Lollapalooza (have I told you I love music?!). We tried to get brunch there but the wait was more than an hour. On my recent trip to Chicago we stayed right down the street from The Rockit and luckily, on a Friday at 1:30pm, we were able to easily get a table. Check out the cool menus!
I started with a Goose Island Matilda, on draft. Whenever Matilda is available on draft – everyone in my family orders her! I haven’t found Matilda on draft outside of Chicago, so I jumped at the opportunity to have a glass.
For lunch, I decided to go with the Rockit Burger. It came with truffle fries so it was basically a no-brainer. The burger was made out of wagyu Kobe beef (from Australia), had melted brie cheese on top with a date aioli on a red onion brioche bun. My burger was awesome! The beef was tender and juicy and cooked perfectly medium rare, just the way I like it. The truffle fries were pretty delicious too, but not as good as the ones at Senate in Cincinnati.
I recommend giving The Rockit a try next time you’re in Chicago. They had a good looking bloody mary bar and their brunch menu looks like it has a lot of great options. Just watch out for prices. My burger was $19. I didn’t realize how expensive it was when I ordered it, but I guess that’s the price when you have a wagyu Kobe burger.
I thought it was a good burger, but at $19 was too expensive. The fries are really good!!
