Indian Food

Indian food is near and dear to my heart.  In college I studied religion and culture in India and fell in love with the country.

Despite eating purely delicious vegetarian dishes while I was in India, my favorite Indian meal is Special Chicken Tikka Masala.  I feel in love with it after coming home and trying new dishes at my local Indian restaurants. SCTM-tight-2When I don’t feel like cooking after a long hard day at work, I swing by Baba’s in Oakley and pick up takeout.  Baba’s knows how to do Indian food right.  And I’m not the only one with that opinion, their parking lot is always full of cars!  Check out their Special Chicken Tikka Masala.
SCTM-tightI love the velvety tomato sauce with butter, cream, and masala spices.  Baba’s shreds their chicken and adds green and red bell pepper with some onion to the dish.  I always order it spice level 4 (medium-hot out for 1-6).  I like a little kick!

Plus, their rice is light and fluffy and cooked perfectly.  I have to admit, cooking rice is not one of my strong suits.  Mine usually turns out a little to dense but Baba’s got the rice thing down pat.

I’ve been searching for the perfect Special Chicken Tikka Masala recipe to make at home.  Anyone have a good recommendation?  I’m looking for a spicy robust recipe that’s low-fat and healthy.

What’s your favorite Indian dish?

In addition to Special Chicken Tikka Masala, I also love Paneer Makhanni and vegetable Samosa’s.
