The Quarter Bistro

I recently had dinner at The Quater Bistro in Mariemont… and my meal was delicious!  I’ve been wanting to try the cute restaurant next to the Mariemont Theater for a while now and I’ll definitely be going back.  Despite 90 degree temperatures, we sat outside on the front patio.  The patio’s next to the street but the tree’s and decor gave it a secluded sophisticated feeling.

I started with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc.  It was hot outside so a cold glass of white wine was very refreshing.

It was hard to choose my entree because there were several dishes on the menu that sounded so good!  My top choices were: Gerber Amish Chicken Breast, Ruby Red Idaho Trout, Mahi Mahi Fish Tacos, and Steamed P.E.I. Mussels.  I decided not to get the Chicken (even though the description was making my mouth water with stuffed squash blossoms) because it was hot and the meal sounded a little heavy.

Out of my three remaining choices I decided to go with the Mussels because it would be a lighter meal but just as appetizing with tomato’s, garlic, fresh basil, a white wine butter sauce, and grilled crostini!

Before my main course, I had the Quarter Salad to help get my daily veggies in.  Isn’t the presentation great?

I took off most of the croutons in anticipation for the grilled bread coming with the mussels. And only poured about a tablespoon of the Sherry Vinaigrette dressing over the greens with raisins and almonds.

The main event!

Steamed P.E.I. Mussels (I always think of Anne of Green Gables whenever P.E.I. is mentioned) with roma tomatoes, garlic, shallots, basil, in a white wine butter sauce with grilled crostini!  So how did it taste?  If you can’t already tell by my enthusiasm- I loved it!  The mussels were bold but slightly sweet with the basil and the sauce.  I was very happy with my dinner and recommend fish lovers to try the mussels at The Quarter Bistro.

Question: Are you a fan of mussels?  Where have you had the best mussels you’ve ever tasted?
